小牧市中心街から程近い地域に建つ3階建て住宅である。両親が営む自動車整備工場と両親の住居が隣接する敷地に、息子夫婦の住宅を設計した。両親との距離、道路との距離が近い環境で、家族だけの生活を守りながら、自然を体現できる空間を森をモチーフに設計した。道路側外壁の周囲を無垢材のスクリーンで覆うことで外部との距離を保ちつつ、スクリーン間からの木漏れ日を表現している。鉄骨ラーメン構造のメインフレームに、ログハウスの手法で国産の杉無垢材を積み重ねた構造で、杉無垢材の歩留まり92%*を実現した。樹木を余すことなく利用することで、木の存在感を感じる森の生活が始まる。

This three-story house is located in an area not far from the center of Komaki City. We designed a house for a son and his wife on a site adjacent to their parents’ auto body shop and their parents’ residence. In an environment close to the parents and the road, we designed a space that embodies nature while protecting the family’s private life, using a forest as a motif. By covering the perimeter of the exterior wall on the street side with a solid wood screen, we expressed the sunlight filtering through the trees between the screens while maintaining the distance from the outside. The main frame of the steel-frame rigid-frame structure is made of Japanese solid cedar stacked in the manner of a log house, achieving a yield rate of 92%*. By utilizing the trees in their entirety, a life in the forest begins where one feels the presence of the trees.
